For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored and Uncommon 1953 Parker Candian Azure Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Gold Filled Chevron Cap (///\\\) Band and 14K Canadian NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is in the major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted. The Azure color is pretty incredible in this celluloid displaying near water clear transparency.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the split arrow gold filled clip in excellent condition with no gold plate loss. The cap banding that is in excellent condition with no brassing displayed - there is one very tiny pinhead scratch and point it out for clarity sake. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is lightly stamped with, " MADE IN CANADA PARKER VACUMATIC with the date code 53 (for 1953) in the third quarter - the Pat No and Reg TM imprints are very faint". The transparency of the barrel excellent - it is near water clear with only minor ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or barrel.
This 3rd Generation Parker Vacumatic has the correct plastic filling unit typical of this production. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly. The Vacumatic Filling System works very well, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full.
The Fountain Pen has a 14K Parker Split Arrow NIB that is semi-flexible/smooth and Made in Canada with a 1950 date code. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .73mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine to double broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at roughly .44mm and the double broad stroke line measures 1.37mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen displaying a vibrant Azure Pearl color. This is a late Canadian Vacumatic, made five years after the USA had ceased production of this series - this is certainly uncommon and a serious collector variant. I would easily grade this Parker in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
