A fabulous antique Victorian bracelet C. 1900, adorned with green Peridots, violet Amethyst’s and lovely white Baroque Pearls which represent the Suffragette movement.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
Baroque Pearls are unique for their irregular non-spherical shape which are formed in freshwater mussels or saltwater Oysters. The Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone which is all natural.
The piece is fashioned in Yellow Gold and stamped -375- for 9ct on the clasp.
A beautiful Suffragette piece and highly sort after.
