Why We Love It
Although we here at Analog/Shift deal primarily in vintage watches, certain contemporary watches resonate with us.
Before strapping our first watches onto our wrists, many of us we were car guys. Whether our first love was a 1930s Packard or a 1960s Porsche 918, we longed to slip behind the wheel and take a spin around our favorite local race course. Although watches might now be our main stock in trade, we’ve never forgotten our love for cars.
There’s a symbiotic relationship between watches and automobiles, and no one understands that better than Bradley Price, founder of Autodromo.
Bradley is someone who just gets cars, and imbues his passion into each product (or “motoring instrument”) he designs for Autodromo, a brand he founded in 2011.
As lovers of both watches and cars, this is something we can really get behind, and have counted some of his creations in our personal collections over the years.
This model, a first series Monoposto, dates to 2012 and is part of the first collection of Autodromo watches to utilize a mechanical movement. It is also one of only 250 pieces produced with a silver dial. These early Monoposto models have proven incredibly desirable on the secondary market and very rarely come up for sale. It also provided the base design inspiration for the Monoposto Chronograph model, which is currently available from Autodromo.
The Story
Like us, our good friends over at HODINKEE have a strong appreciation for Bradley's work with Autodromo. They have been staunch supporters of the brand since its launch in 2011, and have provided thoughtful reviews for every model released since.
With that in mind, is a link to their coverage of the Monoposto at its launch in 2012.
And for good measure, is a link to a review posted on WatchUSeek by our very own James Lamdin at the same time.
