The Volkl Blaze 106 Women's Skis are derived from the Menâs version, showcasing the same construction, dimensions, and shape, but just coming in smaller length sizes for women's skis. The 106 gets its name from its 106-millimeter waist, which puts it squarely in the freeride category. We all know with that kind of waist width that this ski is a great floater in soft snow and powder, but weâre impressed with the level of versatility on top of just soft snow performance. The 106 is a maneuverable ski that can also handle some firmer snow conditions. It can also make a variety of turn shapes at slow or fast speeds. And because it's lightweight, it makes for a great 50/50 resort/touring ski with you put a Marker Kingpin or Salomon Shift binding on them. The light weight has to do with the Hybrid Multi-Layer wood core that blends softer and lighter wood stringers with denser and stiffer ones. Amazingly, stability and strength are not sacrificed, and the titanal power plate and the suspension tips and tails have a lot to do with it. By adding a small rubber laminate in the tips and tails, the vibrations are dampened, leading to a smooth and stable ride even at higher speeds in sketchy situations. Regardless of application, it can be used inside the resort boundaries, as a side country ski or a full-blown backcountry tourer. Making the Volkl Blaze 106 Women's Skis a very special tool for all trades.
