Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic unissued example of a WWII Issue Paratrooper Jump Case for the Carbine, Cal .30, M1A1, which was a paratrooper version with a folding stock. Referred to variously as the Scabbard, M1A1, Jump Case, or Paratrooper holster, it was designed to carry and protect the M1 M1A1 folding stock carbine during a parachute jump. The bags were padded with felt on the leg side, so the bag had to be carried flap side out.
The canvas belt holster was strapped to the leg at the bottom, and was slipped over the belt or parachute harness by using the large belt loop. The top flap is closed by two "lift-the-dot" snaps. Since attaching it to the belt and leg would prevent the leg from bending, one must assume that the holster was mostly attached to the webbing.
This example is maker marked under the top flap: ALLTEX PRODUCTS INC. / 1943. This example was made with earlier OD Green #3 Canvas, not the later OD Green #7, and features light green trim around the edges. The original color is completely retained, and the case is in fantastic condition, with both snaps working, and the leg strap still fully intact. It shows just a bit of storage wear and color toning, but is otherwise just like it was when it was made.
Just like the case used by the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions during Normandy and Market Garden. Ready to display along with your M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine!
