Product Details

PU MATT WHITE # 551 is a pigmented topcoat based on poly – functional saturated polyesters. It is formulated for wood application to give an excellent satin finish with good covering properties.

Major Uses : PU MATT #551 WHITE is excellent for wood furniture, cabinets, bed sets, interior doors and frames.

CHARACTERISTICS & PHYSICAL PROPERTIES :

Appearance – Liquid white

Specific weight – 1.290 /- 0.005 kg/L

Viscosity (FC # 4 @25°C – 60 – 75”

Flash point – 20°C

Non-volatile (%wt.) – 60 /- 0.5

Gloss (60°) – 10 / 20 / 30

Application condition:

  • Air temperature – 5 ~ 35°C
  • Relative humidity – 85% maximum

Application method – Automatic or conventional Spray

Recommended catalyst – Catalyst # 013

Thinner – PU Thinner # 105/205

Mixing/Dilution ratio (Visc: 13~15” FC # 4) 

  • Base: 100
  • Catalyst: 50
  • Thinner: 20-25

Pot life (25°C) – 2 – 3 hours

Drying time:

  • Dust free – 15 – 17 min
  • To touch – 45 – 60 min
  • Recoat – 2 – 3 hours
  • hard – 24 – 36 hours

Coating rate – 6 – 8 m² /L

Basecoat – PU Primer White 153 / SP and Plastofil 350

METHOD OF APPLICATION : 
The surface to be coated should be primed with PU or Polyester Primer.
It should be cleaned, well-sanded and free from dust, oil, water and other contaminants.
To a well-prepared surface, apply 1 – 2 coats of PU MATT #551 WHITE, horizontally and vertically.
PU MATT #551 WHITE when applied by curtain coater, the viscosity of the lacquer should be controlled and monitored for the continuity of the finish.
One coat may be sufficient for ordinary finish however; one additional coat can be applied wet on wet if necessary. Light sanding with 400 – 600 mesh sand paper is recommended before subsequent coats, when recoating time exceeds 3 hours.
